What’s new in Classic+ Version – Released on May 04, 2026

Creator Note:

Here we are, a year after the release of the Classic Version (the first release of EEC).
I used this time to work on a new version based on PokeEmerald Expansion, but the sudden popularity of this hack has left me faced with several game-breaking bugs and the need to not leave you high and dry while you wait for the new version.

That’s why I stopped everything to work on a mid-version that would allow you to complete the game without having to resort to external solutions and add a few bits of new content!

I’m proud to introduce you to the Classic+ version!
This version doesn’t add much new content, but it’s best suited for players who have never played EEC or those who, like me, tend to periodically replay it.

• Various bug fixes
• Temporary fixes for evolutionary lines that use trade items (I wasn’t able to fix the trade item bugs, so I had to temporarily change them. In the next version, they will be able to be used as normal evolutionary tools again.)

• Trainers scattered across the continent, making the world feel more alive.
• A specific subquest for capturing Groudon, set in the Devon Underground.
• A specific subquest for Kyogre, set in the Southern Isle, which now has a town.
• A new gym.
• A new subquest for capturing Latios and Latias.
• A conclusion to the Rival story arc.
• An alternative method (tied to Jirachi) for capturing Mewtwo, in case you missed the opportunity to complete his subquest.

How to Patch & Play Pokemon Emerald Extended Cut

To patch and play Pokemon Emerald Extended Cut, you’ll need the following:

What You Need

• A clean Pokemon Emerald ROM (TrashMan version is strongly recommended)
• A patching tool (ROM Patcher JS is recommended — works on all devices, no installation needed)
• The Emerald Extended Cut patch file (from your download source)

How to Patch Using ROM Patcher JS

1. Go to ROM Patcher JS
2. Under “ROM File”, select your clean Pokemon Emerald (TrashMan) ROM
3. Under “Patch File”, select the Pokemon Emerald Extended Cut patch you downloaded
4. Click “Apply Patch”
5. The patched ROM will download automatically
6. Locate the file in your Downloads folder
7. Open it with a GBA emulator to start playing
